A double ATC card set which originally was designed to become a 4 foot painting. The uniform of the firefighter is painted in metallics, which in life looks awesome but in scanning just goes flat. This is a piece I originally sketched just after 9-11-01 and has only now been set to paper in a proper composition; and it holds a lot of meanings for me and will not be sold. I used regular and metallic acrylics, ink, watercolor pencil and colored pencil, and plain water.

ADDED: I got some questions as to the meanings here so I will explain this out a bit, since I suppose it could be interpreted wrong due to the blood and also my often critical standing on what happened that day. although I have sided with conspiracy therorists for things, this card is not meant to show that, just the event itself for what it was.

The eagle of course is Freedom, our national emblem. Freedom is also what the towers stood for, so therefore Freedom is holding them up. The primary colors are red, white, and blue...of course for our flag, but going a bit deeper I did add 50 stars, and the number of red and white feathers matches that on our flag. The red blood symbolises the blood shed by victims of freedom torn down. The eagle is wearing a firefighter outfit both in tribute to them but also for artistic reasons (I wanted to add the reflective yellow bars to put additional numbers in). On the wing bars are all four flights that were taken hostage, both the ones that hit the towers and also the pentagon, and of course flight 93 that went down in Shanksville. On the eagle's lower brown feathers are the current number of confirmed dead at ground zero + 24 missing persons supposed dead. In retrospect I probably should have added the number dead from the pentagon as well. The badge atop the F.D.N.Y. is a fireman's badge with 343, the number of firefighters that died that day trying to uphold freedom and save victims of terrorism, becomming victims themselves.
